Therapy & Counselling in Hackney
How therapy can support you…
People come to therapy for many different reasons. You might be living with depression, anxiety, or ongoing stress that feels hard to manage on your own. You may be feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or finding it difficult to stay connected to yourself or the people around you. For some, it’s relationship issues, with partners, family, friends, or colleagues, or a sense of repeating patterns that are painful or confusing. Others come with low self-esteem, persistent worry, confusion, or a feeling of being stuck or unsettled without fully knowing why.
Therapy can also be a space for curiosity rather than crisis. You might want to explore past experiences, long-standing patterns, or parts of life that feel confusing or unresolved. You might also come with a sense that something is shifting, or because you want a steady place to check in with yourself each week.
In our sessions, there is room to slow down and pay attention to your inner world, your emotions, thoughts, memories, sensations, and the experiences that shape how you relate to others and to yourself. This isn’t something you need to prepare for. You can bring sadness, numbness, frustration, anxiety, confusion, hope, or anything you haven’t yet found the words for. All of it is welcome here.
You don’t need a clear goal or a polished story. Therapy can be a place to explore what hurts, to understand old patterns, to navigate change, or to reconnect with parts of yourself that have felt out of reach. Everything you share is held in a confidential, respectful environment, and we’ll move at a pace that feels manageable and supportive for you.
If you’re wondering whether this might be the right time or the right space for you, you’re welcome to get in touch for an initial conversation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are your sessions in person or online?
I offer in-person therapy and counselling in Hackney, as well as online psychotherapy for anyone who prefers working remotely or lives outside East London. You’re welcome to choose whichever setting works for you.
What’s the difference between therapy, counselling, and psychotherapy?
These terms are often used interchangeably, and there’s plenty of overlap. Counselling can be helpful when you want to focus on a particular issue or a specific period in your life - for example, relationship challenges, stress, or a recent change. Psychotherapy tends to offer more depth, giving space to explore patterns that may have developed over time, including anxiety, depression, or the impact of earlier experiences.
Whether you come for counselling or psychotherapy, the aim is the same: to have a confidential space where you can speak openly, reflect on what’s happening in your life, and explore what you need at a pace that feels manageable. I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy, and we can decide together what feels right for you.
Is psychotherapy right for me?
Psychotherapy may be a good fit if you’re looking for a place to slow down and understand your inner world with more clarity. Some people come because they feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure about what they’re experiencing, while others want support in developing a stronger sense of themselves. You don’t need to have a specific diagnosis or crisis - simply wanting space to reflect can be enough.
Do you offer counselling for anxiety, depression and stress?
Yes - I support people with a wide range of emotional and relational experiences, including anxiety, depression, stress, grief, life transitions, and difficulties in communication or connection. Counselling can help you work through current challenges, while therapy and psychotherapy can support longer-term change.
How long can I attend therapy?
There’s no fixed length for therapy. Some people come for a short period to focus on something specific, while others choose longer-term psychotherapy so they have more space to explore patterns, emotions, and personal history. You’re free to continue for as long as the work feels helpful.
How long are therapy sessions?
Sessions last 50 minutes. Many people find that weekly appointments provide a steady rhythm for therapy, while others prefer to meet fortnightly or monthly. We can discuss what level of support feels right for you and adjust the pace as needed.
Where are you based?
My practice is based in East London, just a few moments walk from Hackney Central Station, directly opposite the Town Hall and the Hackney Empire. I also work online with clients from London and beyond. Some people prefer meeting in person, others feel more comfortable working remotely. We can choose whichever setting supports and works for you.
